Vehicle Pickups and Returns

Motor Pool Vehicles

Vehicle pickup

All vehicles reserved during normal business hours will be picked up at the Reno Motor Pool.

NOTE:  The driver must have a current drivers license in his/her possession in order to receive a Motor Pool vehicle.  The Motor Pool will not issue a vehicle to any driver who does not have a current drivers license in their possession.

If a driver is arriving in Reno by airplane, he/she needs to follow the listed procedures.

  • Upon arriving at the airport the driver must call the Reno Motor Pool and let them know he/she has arrived at the airport.  If a driver has luggage to pickup, please call for the shuttle after he/she has picked up the luggage.  Please leave your name and a contact phone number on the message.

  • The Motor Pool will then send the shuttle bus over to pickup the driver.

  • Upon exiting the front of the terminal the driver will need to turn left and proceed to the far end of the terminal.  The driver will need to wait at the black curb.

  • The shuttle will transport the driver to the Motor Pool.  The driver will present his Daily Vehicle Approval form and a current drivers license to the Motor Pool personnel.  The driver is required to have a completed Daily Vehicle Approval form and a current drivers license in order to receive a vehicle.  The Daily Vehicle Approval form must have an agency head signature on it to be valid.

  • The driver will be issued a set of keys to the vehicle he/she has been assigned.  The gas cards for the vehicle are located in the glove compartment.  The driver is responsible to return the keys and the gas cards to the Motor Pool.

If a driver is arriving by car, he/she will need to present the Daily Vehicle Approval form and a current drivers license to the Motor Pool personnel.

Vehicle Return

If a driver is returning during normal business hours, he/she will return the vehicle to the Reno Motor Pool.

The driver will return the vehicle to the Reno Motor Pool.  The Motor Pool personnel will record the return date and time.  The driver will receive his/her copy of the return ticket.  If needed, the Motor Pool personnel will shuttle the driver to the airport.
Please allow enough time for the Motor Pool to process the paperwork and transport the driver to the airport.

Enterprise Vehicles

Vehicle Pickup

Driver will proceed to the Enterprise Renal Car counter at the airport.
Driver will tell the clerk their confirmation number and present their drivers license.
The clerk will present the driver with the keys to the vehicle.

Vehicle Return

Driver will return the vehicle to the Enterprise location at the airport.


After hours

Vehicle pickup

All vehicles reserved after normal business hours will be picked up at Thrifty Car Rental.  All reservations made for after hours travel will be charged a delivery fee and any incurred parking charges at Thrifty.

If a driver is arriving in Reno by airplane, he/she needs to follow the listed procedures.

  • Upon arriving at the airport, the driver will need to go to the Thrifty Car Rental desk in baggage claim and have the shuttle take them to Thrifty or they may call Thrifty and request the shuttle pick them up

  • Once at Thrifty, the driver will tell the clerk his/her name and that he/she is here to pickup a State Motor Pool car.

  • The clerk will give the driver an envelope with his/her name one it, the license number of the vehicle, and the keys.

  • The driver is responsible to return the keys and the gas cards to the Motor Pool.

Note: Thrifty Car Rental is open from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.  The Motor Pool cannot accommodate drivers arriving between 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

 For drivers arriving by car, he/she will proceed directly to Thrifty Car Rental and follow the above procedures.

Vehicle return

All vehicles returned after normal business hours must be returned to Thrifty Car Rental.

  • The driver will park the vehicle in the return vehicle area at Thrifty.

  • The driver will take the keys to the clerk and tell the clerk he/she is dropping off a Motor Pool vehicle.

  • Thrifty will then shuttle the driver to the airport.
